Ok. In his article, he does acknowledge Vietnam, but his insistence that a resumption of the draft would be good for us makes me feel that he is one of those "liberals" (a true perversion of the word) that really believes that we are not qualified to make our own decisions on this (or any other) matter and that it is the duty of the government to make those decisions for us.

Floyd, I have to disagree about the timing. What we are seeing today is the radical left that came of age in the 60's. I could talk to Lieberman Democrats. I could even pull the lever for some of the old Democrats, such as Daniel Patrick Moynihan or Zell Miller (who I actually did vote for). But the modern left differ from their predecessors in that they lack any intellectual honesty.

Thanks for the comment Matthew. I've heard that said before. Actually, I think the Supreme Court made the same point in the Indiana case a few years ago, at least about absentee voting. That is the next thing that needs to be looked at. As to the election judges, this is the first time I've heard that raised. Do they have election judges from both parties?

QJust because millions of people, yourself included, apparently, are capable of muddled thinking regarding this issue, doesn't in fact, give your ideas any credence whatsoever. That is a very basic logical fallacy - actually twol - to whit, I am right because others agree with me and, secondly, I am right because of my personal experiences alone, without regard to the larger context surrounding the issues.

Anybody who has taken the trouble to acquaint themselves with the day to day facts regarding the civil rights violations of brown persons on our supposedly enlightened society would begin to question the dubious set of assumptions you and your ilk indulge in.

It seems apparent to me that we have become a divided country. The division isn't geographic however, it's political. We have even begun to speak ever more distinctly different languages. (Lib-speak/Con-speak) Plus, I have never had a falling out with a friend over politics (I'm 54) until 2010... now, it's a commonplace. Hey, speak for yourself matey, here in Britain we've got a massive drought and a hosepipe ban is in effect for farmers and gardeners as it hasn't rained significantly this spring. Well, I say Britain, but where I live in Wales, we've had plenty of rain (we're like the Seattle of the UK!) but no way of exporting the stuff. Which is unfortunate as it would make a great contribution to our trading position, which is mostly based on sheep (and rugby!).
