Cuba's bearded Bolshevik is down for the count. Fidel Castro, 81 years old, has announced his retirement from politics after half a century of ruling over the glorious worker's paradise that he created in Cuba - a country that has barely managed to remain afloat with the benefice of Fidel's friend, Hugo Chavez.
