Obama Now Inherits The Mess He Has Created

Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.
H.L. Mencken
I alluded to these issues in the post below, but the WSJ's James Taranto does a good job of flushing them out:

The mess today's winner will inherit includes not only high unemployment and slow growth but impending policy changes that threaten to make those problems worse. On Jan. 1, unless Congress acts, the Bush tax cuts expire--or, to put it another way, "massive, job-killing tax increases" are about to take effect (that quote is from President Obama). If Obama gets his way--which he likely would if re-elected--Congress will forestall the hike only for taxpayers making under $200,000 or $250,000 a year. That would be good for those fortunate enough to have jobs, but it would not change the tax increase's job-killing nature, as it would hit investors and small businesses hard.

Then there's ObamaCare. Although enacted nearly three years ago, it was written so that most of its provisions would not take effect until the next presidential term. "The bottled-up rules to set up President Barack Obama's health care reform law are going to start flowing quickly right after Election Day," Politico reports. "As soon as Wednesday, the gears and levers of government bureaucracy are likely to start moving at full speed again."

Taranto misses at least one other obvious national land mine - the looming effects of Obama's energy policy and his war on coal in particular, which provides nearly half of our electricity. No new coal plants are being built to replace existing plants, and the effect of the EPA's recent rules punishing coal will be catastrophic for electric generation, both in cost and availability.

Obama and his ilk do not care. Lets assume that this election wasn't stolen and that the vote numbers being displayed represent real and honest votes. That means that 50% of the populace elected a liar and a thief. He left people to die in Benghazi and lied about it afterwards. These lies were exposed and newspapers hid these facts. However anyone who cared to know, could easily find out. He armed Mexican drug lords and lied about it, and there are no consequences. His goons stood around Philadelphia to intimidate white conservative voters. Justice department goons probably laughed at the pictures.

Just like in 3rd world, integrity is a weakness. That's how this generation of kids must be raised. Otherwise they're food. Everyone is out for themselves. We have one of the most corrupt governments in the world and no one can do anything about it. If Republicans wished to make a stand, they would impeach the SOB immediately. Senate won't go along with it - so what. It would serve as a rallying cry and people respond. Instead out DC reps will cave in. Who will fight???

I think it will soon be time to go underground. It may be this time now.

They sow, we reap a bitter harvest. Bummer.

It is going to be interesting. Obama will hold sequestration as a bribe so he can get his desired tax increase on the rich. The problem is that he doesn't understand economics at all, and will make a mess of anything he touches, which is exacerbated by the fact that his views are set in concrete. He does not change his mind.

His big government ideas are already proving to be a colossal failure, but we have never applied such policies to a country as large and diverse as the U.S. They don't work in smaller countries such as Canada and the UK, so the pile up disaster should be even worse in our economy. Will we have such a total conflagration that Democrats will be banished from governing forever? It is a possibility. (Looking on the bright side)

Good stuff and Taranto is my most-quoted blogsource. For an interesting and long range look at the semi-permanent damage inflicted by Tuesday's massive malfeasance by the 51% of cultural/social elites---I am joking---note my latest blog on Charles C. Cook's piece in the NRO on why he is in despair.

GW, Here's a blog I basically cribbed entirely off Mark Steyn's totally brilliant remarks after Tuesday.

Talk about yer prophecies...

As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

I'd also note one other entirely undiscussed side effect of the election.

Iran is now virtually assured of getting nuclear weapons, and even imagining they can use them with impunity.
