Watcher's Council Nominations

Each week, the members of the Watcher's Council nominate one of their own posts and a second from outside the Council for consideration by other council members in a contest for best post. The Watcher publishes the results each Friday morning. The Watcher also has a process for anyone who would like to submit one of their posts for consideration as part of the weekly contest. You can find out more about that here. This week's nominations are:

_______________________________________________________

Council Nominations:

1. Done With Mirrors - Bullshit!
DWM is affronted by an assertion about the name of "I am who I am"

2. The Glittering Eye - The Candidates on the Economy: Taxes
Dave gives his thumbnail analysis of the tax plans proposed by the three remaining Presidential candidates.

3. Hillbilly White Trash - Does America Need a New Enemy? One Brit Thinks So...
A great piece from HWT deconstructing the arguments of a Brit I do not know, but whose prose sounds distinctly redolent of that I see each morning when I turn to the Guardian's opinion pages for my morning laugh. Best line - "when in doubt about which direction to orient your moral compass point it away from the malignant narcissist loon who thinks that Fidel Castro, Che Guevara and Daniel Ortega are great men"

4. Soccer Dad - Painting?
Soccer Dad ponders how the MSM is attempting to defend their man, Obama, from well deserved criticism. The choices of verbs and adjectives do the trick.

5. Bookworm Room - The MSM -- Mis-educating the Masses
The MSM is still able to run effective agenda journalism pieces to protect their favored candidates - at least among those who do not bother to use the net.

6. The Colossus of Rhodey - Further Proof That the Western P.C. Left Is Akin to the Societies They Admire
Human Rights Commissions are leftist constructs that turn Western legal traditions on their head. Is it just me, or is the term "human rights" taking on a really unpleasent spin leading to knee jerk reactions at the mere mention of the phrase. It reminds me of the unfortunate negative aspects now inappropriately but firmly associated with the word "liberal."

7. Cheat Seeking Missiles - Warmie Psychic: Global Headache Coming!
The potential damage to the earth from [capitalism] CO2 requires immediate [redistribution of wealth] action to prevent further catastrophe from the inexorable march of global [cooling] warming.

8. Joshuapundit - Bedtime For Bonzo? The Clinton Eclipse
This is a good post suggesting its time for the Hildabeast to slime back into oblivion, but it was written before Obama gave us his thoughts on how religion - along with guns and racism apparently - are the opiates of the small town masses.

9. The Education Wonks - Censorchimps: The Mandarin Subspecies
EW is troubled by our government's close relationship with China. I am also, though I know the theory is to support the gradual development of a middle class in China that eventually ends Communist Party rule.

10. Wolf Howling - The Next Moves In An Existential Chess Match
The multiple problems posed by Iran exist against an ever changing background which, now, is in our favor. We need to capitalize on it.

11. Rhymes With Right - Wright's Eulogy For Black Fascist Parishioner
The Rev. Wright again treats us to another helping of his banal racist screed. Good thing Obama never heard this stuff during the 20 years he sat in Rev. Wright's pews.

12. Right Wing Nut House - Elitism and the Elitist Elites Who Think They're the Elite
Obama's marxian remarks are pondered philosophically by Rick within the rubric of the history and modern reality of elitism.

Non-Council Nominations:

1. Pajamas Media - Zombie Chronicles the Olympic Torch Relay in SF

2. Baldilocks - It's the "White" Church that Obama's Talking About (UPDATED)

3. Eternity Road - "Universal Health Care"

4. Daled Amos - Carter: "I've Been Meeting With Hamas Leaders For Years"

5. American Thinker - McCain's Electoral College Math

6. The Atlantic - 'This Is How We Lost to the White Man'

7. Real Clear Markets - The Rich and Their Taxes

8. City Journal - Hope for Iraq’s Meanest City

9. Gates of Vienna - Exposing Shariah Finance

10. Family Security Matters - The War of Ideas

11. The QandO Blog - Anbar, An Amazing Transformation

12. Anwyn's Notes in the Margin - Obama: You Only Need to Count on Your Family and Your God if Your Government Doesn't Make You Rich or at Least Richer; UPDATED

13. Classical Values - If You Disagree With Me, You've Either Been Hoodwinked, Or Else You're a Hoodwinker!

14. Dodgeblogium - 'Broadband Tax' Could Fund TV News Bulletins
