Dave in Boca was a career Foreign Service Officer - and he still has his contacts, including with one FSO who has spent the better part of the last decade in Afghanistan. Among his important observations - Afghan's President, Hamid Karzi, is not corrupt. To the contrary, he is working dillegently to address the problem of corruption in his country. The meme that Karzi is himself a problem comes from Richard Holbrooke, who seems to be doing little in the Afghan area other than to bullox things up and creating a false narrative for Obama to justify using an off ramp out of Afghanistan if and when he wants to use it. Do see Dave's fascinating post on this.
