Dr. Richard North at EU Referendum has posted a a very unsetteling history of the efforts being made by the UK government to influence Brits into believing that man-caused global warming is a reality and to change their lifestyles because of it. Dr. North itemizates the research funded by the UK government to that end since about 2005. It comes out to $33 million spent on marketing and psychological studies. As he concludes, while none of this will be seen as sinister by the AGW crowd, "the idea that our government is spending our money changing our behaviour – especially on such a contentious issue where there is no popular enthusiasm for the changes sought – is getting far too close to Big Brother for comfort."

The EU - Not A Government By, Of & For The People
The EU, the world's penultimate experiment in non-democratic socialism, is on the verge of becoming a nation state, complete with a federal structure and the constitutionally mandated supremacy of its laws. And it is a nation-state with only the appearance of checks and balances built into its structure. It is being installed by the backdoor, with the decision to transfer national sovereignity deliberately bypassing the verdict of its citizens. It is both a tragedy and a travesty. And, as concern's the UK's Labour government, a truly cowardly act in contravention of the referendum they had promised the British people in their election platform. Journalist Christopher Booker's speech on this issue, to be given at a London meeting today, is recorded at EU Referendum:
We have certainly given away far more of the power to decide how Britain is run than most people realise, but with this new treaty it really is game, set and match. There may be little to stop us having the treaty imposed on us by a prime minister who is prepared both to break his word and to lie to us to get what he wants. So our hopes, fragile though they are, must now centre on the possibility that one day, perhaps not all that far off, we might just have a government for which this treaty was the wake-up call that it was the bridge too far.Read the entire speech here.
If that is not the case, however, then let us be in no doubt as to the reality of the situation we shall be faced with. Like all the other peoples of Europe, we shall have become the victims of an immense, slow-motion coup d'etat. A coup d'etat brought off by a political class which holds both the idea of democracy and us, the peoples of Europe, in total contempt.
