Dr. Jasser On The Start Of Muslim Honor Killing Trial

And from AZFamily.com:

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a devout Muslim and an outspoken advocate of integrating Eastern and Western cultures in the U.S., sat down with Javier Soto to talk about the trial of Faleh Hassan Almaleki, the Iraqi immigrant accused of killing his daughter because he thought she was too Westernized and had dishonored the family.

Jasser, the president and founder of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, said that while Noor Almaleki might have gone against her families' wishes when she got a job and started dating, that is not a defense for her father's alleged actions.

"I hope he becomes an example that Muslims in this country will not get special treatment, that they get the full force of Western law," Jasser said. "This honor killing is a sign of a deeper issue."

Jasser went on to discuss how honor killings are often treated in other countries.

"We as a Muslim community need to recognize that ... Islamic law is used sometimes to modify or minimize sentences and actually condones and contributes to a culture that in many ways condones this barbaric behavior," he said.

And here is the statement from NOW, who show their willingness to go outside the confines of their left-wing world in order to show the purity of their agenda as seeking equal rights for all women, even those subjugated by a nominal ally of the left:

Brief and to the point, eh?

The Fierce Urgency of How

She's as good on the stump as she was in speaking to the Republican Convention. Obama gave her the opening by admitting on O'Reilly last night that the surge has been "wildly successful" - and then spinning it by saying that it had worked "beyond anyone's imagination." Underbelly exposed, the moosehuntress goes in to gut her kill while McCain enjoys the spectacle.

Obama and the left are nowhere close to figuring out how to deal with Sarah Palin.

They should already have gleaned by now the dangers of trying to go after her with vicious, ad hominem attacks. The poll numbers and the numbers from her VP speech - both of which exceed Obama's, came about because of the interest generated by all of the attacks on Gov. Palin. And when she didn't wilt and didn't play victim, the boomerang has already started - bigtime. Yet the left, as I have explained ad nauseum in prior posts, just can't stop themselves. Thus we have Gloria Steinam coming out the otherday pronouncing Palin the anti-Christess. We have NOW saying that Sarah Palin is a conservative man. And in probably the most offensive attack to date, Judith Warner writes in the NYT today an article entitled "The Mirrored Ceiling," all but calling Gov. Palin a whore. Here is some of the incredible vitriol heaped by Ms. Warner:

Why does this woman – who to some of us seems as fake as they can come, with her delicate infant son hauled out night after night under the klieg lights and her pregnant teenage daughter shamelessly instrumentalized for political purposes — deserve, to a unique extent among political women, to rank as so “real”?

The rest of the article is equally scandalous. The elite left are so narcissitic that anyone who is not of their circle and that does not hold their views is illegitimate. They are unable to fathom that conservatives are not as they have caricatured them. It is clear that Ms. Warner is of the elite left ilk.

But the Obama campaign itself does not know how to handle Gov. Palin. It was the Obama campaign, while outwardly staying above the ad hominem attacks, actually pushing the Eagleton meme through their surrogates in the MSM in the days leading up to her speech. Hot Air has the rest of the story. Obama tried to respond to Palin's attacks on his experience, but that portended to backfire. Obama's campaign, then officially, at least, decided to ignore Palin. There is too much interest in her for that. So now the latest is to try to turn McCain's attack on Obama - that he was a vacuous celebrity - back against Palin. That is sure to backfire. Obama invited the celebrity comparison with his messianic speeches, his claim to be the "One" we have "been waiting for," his claim that the seas would fall and his "I am a citizen of the world" speech to 200,000 screaming brautwurst eaters. Nothing Palin has done remotely smacks of such hubris or status seeking.

Given the excitement that Palin has ignited, Obama and the far left as a whole are in overdrive trying to figure out a way to stop her between now and November. Obama justified his campaign borrowing the phrase from MLK, the fierce urgency of now. And at the moment, he is in a brutal rear guard action trying to figure out how to save his candidacy. Call it the fierce urgency of how.

Wanna' Bet She Can Field Dress A Moonbat?

After tonight's speech, I am of the opinion that she in fact could give the right lessons in how to field dress a moonbat. And as the cartoon below makes clear, they are flying low at the moment. They've gone rabid and their radar seems to have gone completely haywire since Gov. Palin entered the race.

Tammy Bruce On The Feminist Warpath

One of the most scandalous aspects of the modern feminist movement in America is their utter partisan bent. Events such as the plight of the young saudi victim of gang rape now sentenced to prison and flogging or even the more general treatment of women in most of the Middle East elicits not a word of reproach while the same organization rails against President Bush and the war in Iraq. And all this has Tammy Bruce, former leader in the National Organization for Women, hunting scalps:

British schoolteacher Gillian Gibbons, an unimposing woman of 54, was found guilty of "inciting religious hatred" and sentenced to 15 days in jail and deportation by a court in Sudan’s Khartoum after allowing her 7-year-old students to name a teddy bear “Muhammad.”

In the meantime, Islamist fundamentalists have called for her execution, and her safety is in constant jeopardy. Demonstrations have increased, with crowds carrying machetes, shouting in part: “Execute her! Kill her, kill her by firing squad.”

. . . Apparently, naming a cuddly bear Muhammad insults the prophet, while mass-murdering homicide bombers named Muhammad don’t.

During the past 14 years at least, certainly since Usama bin Laden declared ‘war’ on Western civilization in 1993, we’ve all been exposed to the literal madness of Islamic fundamentalism. We’ve seen the curtain pulled back on how craven American leftists can be as well. Yes, it took a teddy bear to highlight more clearly than ever the psychosis of the enemy, and the failure of the feminist establishment.

There has been appropriate international outrage over the treatment of Gibbons, from virtually everyone except American “feminists.” Multiple Muslim groups in the U.K. have condemned the sentence. Even the popular little boy in Mrs. Gibbons’ class who suggested the name for the bear came to her defense, explaining that he named the bear after himself.

Yet, when asked by FOX News for a comment about the situation, a National Organization for Women spokeswoman said they were "not putting out a statement or taking a position."

This is how depraved the American left has become. A little Muslim boy in Sudan shows more courage and conviction for a woman under fire than a bunch of women sitting in Washington, D.C., who preen themselves on being the premiere “advocates” for women.

It’s been apparent for years that the American feminist establishment is nothing more than a shill for the shallow leftists in the Democrat party, wrapping themselves in the feminist label for convenience. Groups like NOW and Eleanor Smeal’s Feminist Majority, also amazingly silent in the past five years about Islamic terrorism and violence against women, use women’s issues as nothing more than slogans and chants in their efforts to gain political power.

. . . Calling attention to abuse, violence and oppression is something the left claims it does, but these days they’re more than willing to throw those who need our voices under the bus. Their obsession is to make sure the leftist false construct of an evil George Bush and oppressive United States won’t be eclipsed by the truth — the truth of a world where our enemy targets women on a daily basis for terror, torture, oppression and murder as our troops risk and give their lives to banish that horror from the lives of tens of millions.

. . .There have also been a few organizations since 2003 that have done astounding authentic feminist work for women and children around the world, and in Afghanistan and Iraq specifically. The American military, without even a passing "thank you" from so-called feminist leaders Smeal or Steinem or Gandy, have liberated over 53 million people in Afghanistan and Iraq, with a good 25 million of those being women and children. . .
