Palin Derangement Syndrome Week At The Watcher's Council & A Vacancy Announcement

First up, we have a vacancy on the Watcher's Council. If you would like to join, please visit the Watcher's site. You will find a link to instructions on how to apply on the right sidebar of the site.

Each week, the members of the Watcher's Council nominate one of their own posts and a second from outside the Council for consideration by other council members in a contest for best post. The Watcher publishes the results each Friday morning. There is never an organized theme to our submissions, but more often than not many posts cover different aspects of the same topic. Having looked at the submissions, the Watcher has informed us that this is PDS Week.

This week's nominations are:
_______________________________________________________

Council Nominations:

1. The Glittering Eye - Chicago’s Proposed Mandatory Spay/Neuter Ordinance
Dave does statutory construction on a proposed ordinance to require those who own pets in Chicago to have their pets spayed or neutered. He finds the goals of the legislation laudable, but the statute very unlikely to effectuate those goals.

2. Soccer Dad - Two Years
SD's daughter turns two. SD is quite proud and his pitorial essay is quite good.

3. Bookworm Room - Examining the Unborn
A vey thoughtful post from Bookworm Room on how far the pro-abortion advocates have pushed the position that a child growing in the womb is not human. She also ponders what would happen if pro-life advocates were to actually get Roe v. Wade overturned.

4. The Razor - Life in a One Party State: America’s Future Under Obama-Biden
Another thoughtful essay from the Razor, this one on how Democrats have managed to take all the reigns of power in Deleware and how they run the state like, . . . well, Democrats. He extrapolates from that to life under Obama and a Dem Congress.

5. Joshua Pundit - The End Game In Iraq
JP gives his assessment of the state of Iraq. I normally agree with JP, though I do not this time.

6. Wolf Howling - Palin in Comparison
A post that I did for the carnival of the insanities to introduce Sarah Palin and compare her to the other ticket.

7. The Colossus of Rhodey - The inanity begins with Bristol Palin
The pregnancy of Bristol Palin has brought to the fore the arguments between comprehensive sex education classes and abstinence only.

8. Rhymes With Right - When Does Human Life Begin
Curiously, though not running for the highest office in the land, RWR finds that this question is not above his pay grade.

9. Cheat-Seeking Missiles - Juno In Juneau
Laer ponders the moonbat attacks on Sarah Palin and her family and the unfortunate reality that her eldest daughter is pregnant out of wedlock.

10. The Education Wonks - China Arnold: Monster
A mother on trial for cooking her baby in a microwave.

Non-Council Nominations:

1. Submitted by Cheat-Seeking Missiles - Alien: Audacity of Deception and Hypocrisy - Sarah Palin vs. Barack Obama

2. Submitted by Bookworm - Just Say No Deal

3. Submitted by The Education Wonks - Classical Values: Putting the Constitution ahead of Culture War

4. Submitted by The Colossus of Rhodey - WSJ: Terrorism’s New Structure

5. Submitted by Rhymes With Right - The Anchoress: Obama, McCain, Palin & generosity

6. Submitted by Soccer Dad - Meryl Yourish.com: Women and Sarah Palin

7. Submitted by The Glittering Eye - Outside the Beltway: Obama’s Acceptance Speech: The More Things CHANGE, The More They Remain the Same

8. Submitted by Joshua Pundit - Elder of Ziyon: “Rachel Corrie” - the video

9. Submitted by Wolf Howling - Big Lizards: The Verdict Is In: McCain Chooses “Transformative” Over “Kicking the Can”

"In other words, human life begins at conception."

I wholeheartedly agree. I would just like to say for those who believe life starts when a heart beat can be heard, or at three months, or at an age where a fetus is viable outside of the womb that if life doesn't start at conception, then is 'it' dead before that determined time?
